Our Favorite Local Spots to Visit for Halloween

16th Street, Santa Monica

For 18 years, Ken Carlson and his wife have transformed their yard and driveway into a must-see Halloween spectacle, earning a reputation for their over-the-top haunted house in the neighborhood. Their sprawling display features crashed cars, boats, clowns, skeletons, and life-size decorations, setting the "go big or go home" standard. The festivities kick off with a family-friendly holiday walk on Montana Avenue from 3 to 5 p.m., making the Carlson's house a highlight of the evening.

Walden Street in Beverly Hills

Walden Drive in Beverly Hills is home to one of the city’s most iconic Halloween spots: the Spadena House, also known as the Witch's House. Originally built in 1921 for a silent film studio, this storybook home was moved to its current location in 1934. With its crooked roof, tiny windows, and overgrown garden, the house looks like it came straight out of Hansel and Gretel—a vibe that continues year-round. While the interior isn't open to the public, the house draws crowds of visitors, especially during Halloween, when the street comes alive with spooky decorations and lavish yard haunts.
